About us
Founded on one belief: every child deserves dignity.
Dignity Trust is a UK registered charity, run by volunteers, supporting orphans and vulnerable children across Afghanistan.
Our story
From Southampton to the villages of Afghanistan
Dignity Trust began around a kitchen table in Southampton, when a group of friends from the Afghan community decided that sending money home to relatives was no longer enough. Too many children they knew of had lost parents, left school, or gone hungry through the winter.
In 2025 we registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (no. 1219348) so that donors could give with confidence and Gift Aid. Today we fund orphan care, education, food and healthcare through local partners we know personally and visit regularly.
We are small by design. Our trustees and volunteers in the UK take no salary, so the money you give goes to the children, not to overheads.
Our values
How we work
Dignity first
We never portray children as objects of pity. Every programme protects their privacy, respects their culture and builds their confidence.
Transparency
Audited accounts, clear reporting to the Charity Commission, and honest updates to donors — including when things are hard.
Local leadership
Afghan partners design and deliver the work. We fund, monitor and support — we do not parachute in.
